Most hearing aids share the same basic parts, features and functionality. The microphone collects incoming sound waves and converts them to electrical impulses. Once the hearing aid circuit receives the information, it modifies and processes the sound based on the level of technology and how the hearing aid was programmed. Users can often adjust the strength of the sound with user controls. The receiver or speaker then converts the amplified electrical impulses into sounds waves and sends to the ear.
